+  1,500 Masters Stipend

Job Responsibilities:

The RBERN Supervisor provides leadership through technical assistance and professional developmentto schools and school districts educating students learning English as a New language in Western New York. In addition, the RBERN Supervisor works collaboratively with the New York State Education Department, Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages in executing the requirements of the RBERN West Contract Work Plan. 

State Grant Requirements

  1. Becomes familiar with current research, theories, current and proposed laws and regulations, and materials pertaining to educating English Language Learners
  2. Assists school districts and schools with developing and improving programs for English Language Learners
  3. Ensures appropriate development of RBERN West web site, listservs, newsletters, and communication with the field in alignment with Erie 1 BOCES and NYSED, OBEWL
  4. Maintain records of all RBERN contract activities and compiles summary reports
  5. Maintains the budget for the RBERN West
  6. Submit Title Ill Consortium Allocation Application and maintain budget
  7. Attends RBERN meetings and training sessions in Albany, Brooklyn or virtually to coordinate contract requirements with NYSED, OBEWL

Staffing and Supervision

  1. Supervises coordinators responsible for staff development for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology integration, including opportunities for our districts that are face­to-face and/or through a virtual platform
  2. Observes and evaluates the performance of direct reports and assures that all staff under his/her direction receives annual performance reviews
  3. Identifies needs of coordinators and provides professional development opportunities in order for coordinators to provide staff development opportunities based on best practices in educating English Language Learners
  4. Recommends new hires or staffing plans to the Director in the selection of personnel in his/her area of responsibility
  5. Approves all personnel leave request, travel request/expenses and requisitions for his/ her area of responsibility
  6. Coordinates activities of RBERN West and Erie 1 BOCES with division director 

Internal and External Communications

  1. Promotes the division's vision for good customer service
  2. Together with Director and other supervisors/managers, develops appropriate channels of Communication (that may cut across department and division lines)
  3. Facilitates electronic communication using all appropriate technologies

 

 

Job Qualifications
  • Must hold the following NYSED Certifications:

    • School Building Leader OR School District Leader OR School Administrator/Supervisor Certificate

      • AND English to Speakers of Other Languages K-12 or K-6 with Bilingual Extension

      • OR Any 7-12 Content area with Bilingual Extension
