General Responsibilities:
To provide students with required support based on their English language needs. Prepare instructional materials, administer and grade students’ assessments, create individualized plans for students with special requirements (e.g. learning disabilities). Continue to research new teaching methods for teaching English as a second language. Create a supportive and positive classroom environment. Maintain records of student attendance and grades. Resolve crises in the classroom. Inform parents about student progress. Collaborate with educational staff to provide a positive learning experience for students.
1. Provide instruction in appropriate academic area.
2. Provide remediation as necessary.
3. Prepare lesson plans and make optimum use of class time to meet stated objectives.
4. Evaluate each pupil's performance, knowledge, and skills in academic area of responsibility.
5. Identify pupil needs, and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve attitude, and learning problems.
6. Meet with students in small group setting to discuss school, social and personal concerns.
7. Communicate with parents on individual pupil progress or other areas of concern.
8. Join with other staff members in meeting with parents and students at regularly scheduled grade reporting meetings.
9. Maintain accurate and complete student records.
10. Guide pupils in selection and performance of appropriate activities.
11. Aid in establishing and maintaining standards of pupil conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment.
12. Provide encouragement for continuation of formal education and assistance in employment awareness skills.
13. Supervise pupils in/out of classroom program related activities during the day.
14. Assist in the storage, maintenance and use of materials and property.
15. Requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, tools materials, supplies as required.
16. Attend faculty meetings and participate in advisory committee meetings as requested.
17. Maintain professional growth by participating in workshops, conferences, and advanced coursework as appropriate.
18. Participate in planning and developing Program goals, objectives, curricula, and methods as requested.
19. Complete all required paperwork.
