Annual Education Stipends:
$500 for Associates Degree/Accredited Training Program Certification or
$1000 for Bachelors Degree or

General Responsibilities:
Provides phone and email support in assigned applications used by public school districts, charter schools, BOCES and nonpublic schools in the WNY region. Trains users via in-person and webinar sessions. Creates user documentation. Helps users understand reporting logic to review and analyze student, staff or assessment data. Assists with testing and report development as assigned. Processes security requests for assigned applications. Troubleshoots application and data problems; refers more advanced problems to internally designated team members. Performs quality control testing of software fixes and enhancements. Interprets NYS Education Department documentation to provide guidance on SIRS data collection deadlines and requirements. Maintains knowledge of assigned applications. Must be able to perform in a team environment.
Training and Application Support
1. Provides application training either one-on-one or in small or large groups for all assigned services.
2. Provides telephone support to districts in assigned applications.
3. Investigates application problems, district questions, and concerns.
4. Communicates and clarifies problems before logging issues.
5. Performs quality control testing of report fixes, new reports, and enhancements to existing reports.
6. Creates documentation of report features and application navigation.
7. Reviews district data submissions to ensure timelines are met.
8. Organizes, prepares materials for user meetings; tracks workshop attendees.
9. Disseminates the most current informational materials, changes in applications, and upcoming training/workshops for district users.
10. Attends local and regional vendor-sponsored user meetings, workshops and conferences.
11. A hybrid schedule may be offered after a successful training period.
Internal Duties
1. Provides backup for other team members.
2. Maintains strict confidentiality.
3. Other duties may be assigned that are relevant to the civil service job description for this title.
Must hold permanent status as an Application Support Representative; or; must be reachable on the current Application Support Representative Civil Service list; or; Must meet minimum qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of information technology experience involving delivery of technology customer service and software application support; or;
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree and three (3) years of information technology experience involving delivery of technology customer service and software application support; or;
C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of information technology experience involving delivery of technology customer service and software application support; or;
D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).
Additional Qualifications:
- Must take upcoming civil service exam for Application Support Representative and be reachable on the list.
- Seeking a proactive, adaptable professional who brings positivity, creativity, and initiative to every task
- Ability to learn complex applications quickly to effectively provide support and training to school district personnel
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented with a respectful, friendly demeanor when providing support or training
- Experience working in a K–12 school district (teaching experience preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with applications such as nVision, WinCap, eSchoolData, or PowerSchool
- Ability to train individuals and groups of varying sizes
