Location:

WNYRIC E2CC Satellite Office
Technology Services - Itinerant (more than two locations)

Hours:
8:00AM - 4:00PM

Hourly Salary:
$37.68

Annual Education Stipends:
$500 for Associates Degree/Accredited Training Program Certification or
$1000 for Bachelors Degree or
$1500 for Masters Degree or

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Designs, develops, supports and implements LAN's and their related operating systems. 
  2. Directs the installation, customization, and maintenance of approved vendor supplied software for LAN operations. 
  3. Generates and maintains LAN operating systems (e.g. Novell, MAC OS/X, DOS, Microsoft Windows etc.). 
  4. Prepares charts, tables, and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems for LANS. 
  5. Coordinate with the WNYRIC Senior WAN Specialist to maintain optimal network performance. 
  6. Advises user training staff in preparing detailed training programs for LAN administrators. 
  7. Coordinates the monitoring and adjustments of LAN systems for optimal performance. 
  8. Organizes and prepares LAN system documentation. 
  9. Assists in the training and instruction of users in LAN operating systems. 
  10. Studies and evaluates new methods and procedures to determine the adaptability to LAN/WAN Technology. 
  11. Coordinates the generation, customization and support of communications software connectivity (Percomm, TN3270 Enterprise Server, etc.). 
  12. Prescribes the training of network operators in the efficient use of communications hardware, network management tools, and LAN/WAN Technology. 
  13. Evaluates hardware and software and provides management with recommendations. 
  14. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Qualifications

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:      

Must hold permanent status as Senior Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist; OR; Must be reachable on the current Senior Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist Civil Service list; OR; Must meet minimum Civil Service qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in data processing which included at least one (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software and, one (1) year of experience in the installation and maintenance of LAN operating systems; or;

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university with an Associate's degree in Data Processing, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field and five (5) years of experience in data processing which included at least one (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software, and one (1) year of experience in the installation and maintenance of LAN operating systems; or;

C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of experience in data processing, which includes at least one (1) year of experience in programming and/or maintenance of vendor supplied operating software, and one (1) year of experience in the installation and maintenance of LAN operating systems; or;

D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Must be proficient with Windows Server 2012/2016
  • Server operation and management in a LAN/WAN environment
  • MAC OSX, Linux, Wireless Networking, Network Architectures and other technologies a plus
  • Familiarity with VMWare and SCCM are a plus
  • Troubleshooting, research and documentation skills are also necessary for this position
  • Candidate must also have good customer service and communication skills, along with project management and time management skills
  • Must be able to present clear and concise information to administrators, managers, technology staff and end users
  • Reliable transportation is needed
