Job Responsibilities:
The Supervisor of IRT Special Education, Behavior, and Student Support Services is responsible for overseeing and working collaboratively with the IRT coordinators who provide professional development around special education, behavior, MTSS, DASA, SEL, and culturally responsive education. This will also include providing direct service and administrative support to districts.
Supervision
-
Directly supervises the coordinators of special education, behavior, MTSS, DASA, SEL, and culturally responsive education.

Observes and evaluates the performance of direct reports and assures that all staff under his/her direction receives annual performance reviews.

In collaboration with the Supervisor of IRT and Senior Supervisor of Professional Development, recruits and interviews any open positions within IRT.

In collaboration with the Supervisor of IRT, Senior Supervisor of Professional Development, and the Director of Talent and Leadership Development, develops and implements professional learning plan for each of the direct reports.

Evaluate, provide feedback, and provides recommendations concerning service models for all services described above.

Models and supports a climate and culture that is inclusive.
Budget
-
In collaboration with the Supervisor of IRT and Senior Supervisor of Professional Development, creates an annual balanced budget.

Conducts a monthly review of budget with Supervisor of IRT and Senior Supervisor of Professional Development.

Ensure all organizational timelines are met concerning budgets.
Direct Service Responsibilities
-
Work in collaboration with IRT staff on district strategic planning and special education, behavior, MTSS, DASA, SEL, and culturally responsive education-related professional development requests.

Develop special education audits to districts as a new service.
-
Develop professional development for assistive technology as a new service.
-
Develop work-based learning coordination as a new service.
Internal and External Committees
-
Attend SNSE statewide meetings.
-
Attend SCDN as an alternate to IRT Supervisor.
-
Attend SCDN Collaboratives as assigned.
-
Attend Erie 1 BOCES Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) monthly meetings.
-
Attend and participate in organizational committees.
-
Share information and updates for all committees to direct report staff.

Identify lanes to take on a leadership role in local, regional, and state committees.
Innovation
-
In collaboration with Supervisor of CSLO, Supervisor of IRT, Senior Supervisor of Professional Development, Director of WNYRIC Business Continuity, Research and Innovation, and the Director of Professional Development, engage in the R&D concerning instructional technology integration in Special Education and related settings that will maintain Erie 1 as a leader in this area.

In collaboration with direct reports, create a cycle of continuous improvement of systems including onboarding, staff professional learning plans, and staff evaluations.

In collaboration with Supervisor of IRT, Senior Supervisor of Professional Development, and Director of Professional Development, develop and implement new services.
Additional Professional Responsibilities

Stay current with educational trends, best practices, and regulations by reading and attending professional development
-
Assists in the development of the E-TEAM (professional development team) Administrative materials such as, but not limited to, the Catalogs and news articles as required by the organization.

Co-plans and co-facilitates team meetings.

Follow the chain of command to address any service, personnel, or emergency.

Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders
-
All other duties assigned by the Senior Supervisor of Professional Development and Director of Professional Development.
- Job Qualifications
-
NYS School Building Leader and/or School District Leader or equivalent certification; NYS Special Education or related certification.
-
Must have at least 3 years of experience as a Special Education service provider.
-
Must have in-depth knowledge of Special Education policy and regulations.
-
Expertise in content knowledge and best practices related to Special Education, behavior, curriculum, instruction, assessments, implementation science, and delivery and evaluation of professional development initiatives.
-
A proven track record of collecting and using data to make leadership level decisions.
-
Strong communication and relationship building skills are imperative for this position.
