Job Responsibilities:
The building principal shall be the administrative officer of the Center. It shall be his/her responsibility to implement the policies, rules and regulations of the school board and other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Career Development Services.
Curricular and Instructional Improvement
1. Organizes, directs and evaluates all instruction in the Center and its annexes.
2. Identifies school needs and determines educational objectives.
3. Plans and implements the prescribed Career and Technical education with staff.
4. Supervises administration of required student assessments and program data analysis.
5. Monitors all programs for continuity and consistency with State Education Department procedures, Erie 1 BOCES goals, and division objectives.
6. Works with the Director to coordinate program development to align instruction and assessment to New York State Learning Standards, and National Industry Standards
Staff Personnel
1. Selects, assigns, supervises, evaluates, transfers, and discharges all personnel in the Center.
2. Acquaints the staff with their duties and responsibilities.
3. Schedules and conducts staff meetings.
4. Orients new teachers.
Pupil Personnel
1. Provides a system in conjunction with home schools of pupil placement, attendance, accounting, evaluation and follow-up of pupil activities and their performance.
2. Develops procedures relating to health, safety, discipline and conduct of students assigned to the Center.
3. Provides a system of communication between students, staff and parents, and related home school personnel.
4. Refers to the Director of Career and Technical Education unresolved pupil personnel problems.
Financial and Business Management
1. Develops a recommended budget with assistance from the staff.
2. Coordinates and maintains a system of budget control (for all expenditures and purchases within the Center and its annexes).
Buildings and Grounds
1. Makes recommendations (providing short term and long-term programs) to Manager, Security, Facilities and Material Logistics for building maintenance, repair and alteration.
Organization and Administration
1. Organizes, implements, supervises and evaluates Career and Technical education programs in the Center.
2. Accepts accountability for the overall effectiveness of the Center.
3. Participates in decision making at the Center and divisional level or other levels when necessary.
4. Develops new programming in conjunction with Director of CTE, based on the needs of district partners and community.
