Job Responsibilities:

The Assistant Principal of Student Support Services will serve as a systems leader who bridges education, student services, families, and community partnerships to ensure students have access to the supports necessary to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. 

Key responsibilities would include:

  • Social Work Supervision and Development: Supervise and evaluate the social work department; lead onboarding, coaching, and professional growth; and develop professional learning aligned with emerging school social work needs and best practices. 
  • Restorative Practices Leadership: Lead district-wide implementation of restorative practices, provide training and coaching to administrators and staff, monitor effectiveness across programs, and offer consultation to support positive school climate and student engagement.
  • Student Support Systems: Oversee social-emotional, behavioral, attendance, and intervention supports; support implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and trauma-informed practices; and collaborate with school leaders to address barriers to student success. 
  • Community Partnerships and Family Engagement: Serve as the district liaison to community-based organizations and service providers; maintain and expand partnerships that increase access to resources; and foster meaningful engagement with families and stakeholders. 
  • Program Coordination and Strategic Planning: Align student support initiatives with district goals, develop systems that ensure consistency and accountability, lead cross-functional teams to address emerging needs, and evaluate program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Professional Learning and AF-10 Staff Development: Collaborate with district leadership to plan and facilitate professional development and provide targeted training and support based on identified staff and building needs. 
Job Qualifications
  • Must hold a valid NYS School District Administrator or School Building Leader Certification. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in school social work, restorative practices, community engagement, and student support systems.

  • Strong knowledge of NYS Education Law, APPR regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and logistical planning skills.

  • Ability to mentor staff and coordinate across multiple programs, buildings/campuses and stakeholders.
