Job Responsibilities: 
Erie 1 BOCES is seeking a highly organized and dependable Senior Clerk Typist. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and enjoys being a key part of smooth daily operations. We’re looking for someone who is responsible, self-motivated, able to solve problems effectively, and confident working independently.

  1. Performs front desk reception desk duties including building security, visitor screening and telephone response. Including providing backup to Building A and C main receptionist for lunch breaks and for PTO days. 
  2. Assist in maintaining Education Campus Security Badges and door access with Facilities Director. 
  3. Assist with Erie 1 BOCES Record Management Systems, including but not limited to scanning in documents, organizing records, assisting in disposing of records. 
  4. Prepares word documents as required by director/designee. 
  5. Contacts Buildings & Grounds personnel as needed. 
  6. Prepares record files for archiving. 
  7. Assists with additional clerical duties as needed including creating purchase orders. 
  8. Maintains and manages underground parking garage assignments. 
  9. Maintains a schedule of appointments, processes incoming correspondence and plans for conferences, meetings, and employee interviews as needed.

Job Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of Home-School Monitoring Services/Policy Services works under the direction of the Manager of Policy & Home-School Monitoring Services to support New York State school districts participating in the Home-School Monitoring Service. The Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and monitoring home instruction documentation to ensure compliance with the Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirements. This includes the review of Individualized Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs), quarterly reports, and annual assessments, as well as maintaining accurate records and communication with participating districts. The Coordinator also provides assistance to school districts throughout New York State in policy development, development and maintenance of policy and administrative manuals.

  1. Works in collaboration with Manager to review and respond to home-schooling documentation required by Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100 and NYSED, including but not limited to IHIPs, quarterly reports, and annual assessments to verify instructional progress and regulatory compliance.
  2. Monitors and tracks the status of all home-schooled students using a centralized database or tracking system.
  3. Maintains accurate and confidential records related to home-school instruction for participating school districts.
  4. Responds to home-school monitoring inquiries from designated school district staU members.
  5. Provides guidance and clarification to school districts regarding home-school regulations and documentation requirements.
  6. Communicates with the Manager of Home-School Monitoring Services regarding compliance issues, trends, and areas of concern.
  7. Assists school districts in meeting state mandates related to home instruction monitoring.
  8. Maintains positive and professional working relationships with assigned participating districts in home-schooling and policy.
  9. Assists in the development of policy and administrative updates and other relevant documents that support the services of the department.
  10. Responds to policy related inquiries by participating districts.
  11. Stays informed of changes to Commissioner’s Regulations, NYSED guidance, and legal requirements related to home-schooling and policy matters and communicates relevant updates to supervisory staff.

Job Responsibilities:
The Technology Services Account Advisor will serve as a liaison between school district administrators and the Erie 1 BOCES Western New York Information Center (WNYRIC) to provide technology product and service knowledge and project management. The Technology Services Account Advisor will serve multiple school districts in the five geographical regions served by the WNYRIC.

The Technology Services Account Advisor will serve multiple school districts in the five geographic regions served by the WNYRIC but will be focused in the Greater Southern Tier region. Job Description:

Erie 1 BOCES has an immediate opening for a Data Support Specialist to assist school districts with state-mandated student data reporting. Responsibilities include helping school personnel understand state reporting requirements; correcting errors in data collection; managing critical data flows and timelines; developing training materials and documentation; and keeping the schools on track with deadlines.

1. Analyzes current systems and procedures for the purpose of proposing and developing modifications and improvements to existing systems. Establishes and maintains standards to most efficiently utilize the processing of software and data on various technology platforms and systems.

2. Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of computer applications.

3. Installs, customizes, and maintains various software applications.

4. Acts as the liaison between users in the district and the organization (Management and Student Services, as well as other technology departments).

5. Evaluates, describes, and organizes data requirements and file structures.

6. Analyzes, defines and designs requirement statements outlining the steps required to effect their solutions.

7. Provides application and operating system training, support and instruction to school district personnel.

8. Develops procedure manuals for technical and non-technical users to aid in processing application software programs.

9. Organizes and prepares system documentation and procedures.

10. Studies and evaluates substantive program requirements and operational methods and procedures for the purpose of determining the feasibility of adapting them to new technology methods, as well as, the implementation of the same.

11. Performs hardware and software evaluations and provides management with written and oral recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Analyst in Technology Services would have expert knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL and above average knowledge of database concepts in Oracle 19c.

The Senior Systems Analyst acts from time to time as a project manager, assuring that application standards are observed, setting milestones and timelines, analyzing critical paths, and monitoring progress. Although the Senior Systems Analyst does not act as a supervisor of other employees, (s)he regularly advises application Coordinators/ Managers who do have supervision responsibilities about technical resource allocation. (S)he also provides feedback to these Coordinators/Managers in regard to the performance of their programming staff, training needs, and other technical issues.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Planning Design and Analysis

  • Researches and analyzes the appropriateness, viability, and applicability of emerging technologies in relation to WNYRIC projects.
  • Describes and organizes the data element requirements and file structures necessary for application development after consultation with interested parties.
  • Promotes consistency across applications.
  • Assures that data is audited for accuracy on a regular basis.

Coordination, Communication and Documentation

  • Acts as a technical resource to application coordinators/managers
  • Breaks apart supervisor-assigned projects into tasks and assists in setting realistic milestones translates user requirements (business rules and user interface) into programming tasks
  • Creates and implements training plans for new and advancing programmers and analysts
  • Acts as a project manager, as needed and appropriate
  • Uses a change management system to track, maintain and oversee projects and resource allocation
  • Participates in creating and modifying standards; enforces standards
  • Promotes the building, maintenance, and regular use of a knowledge base of technical information, procedures, and programming tools
