Job Responsibilities: The Coordinator, School Library Services plans, organizes, and evaluates the integration of technology into the library/instructional program of a building or district. Library automation systems continue to evolve from single site tools for the management of in-house resources to instructional access umbrellas offering pathways to information located virtually anywhere via the internet. Through the creation of customized library staff development and information access services, a coordinator indirectly impacts the daily learning of a school's students, teachers, staff and administrators. These professional responsibilities require independent, "on the spot" judgment, knowledge of the ever-changing technologies and a solid understanding of the unique role the school library media specialist plays in the implementation of the NYS Learning Standards and New York State Common Core Learning Standards. With the increase in numbers of participating schools, Civil Service Librarians have been added to our professional staff. The Library Services Coordinator is responsible for training Library Services staff members, establishing work priorities, and organizing the total service offered to our schools. - Leads and coordinates the implementation, management, and ongoing optimization of Follett Destiny Library Manager across participating districts, including oversight of catalog integrity, system configuration, and union catalog development.
- Provides guidance and training to library staff and technology coordinators to ensure effective use of the system for instruction and resource access, troubleshoots system issues, and collaborates with the Regional Library Automation Service to align Destiny functionality with evolving district needs and instructional goals.
- Leads, guides, and assists school library staff in the integration of library-based technology into the instructional and management programs through the creation of customized solutions.
- Designs, develops, and delivers library staff development that is customized to each school's existing and emerging information needs.
- Provides guidance and leadership to school library staff and technology coordinators, in the analysis of information needs and determination of the best ways to provide information access.
- Works with the School Library Director/Supervisor of the Regional Library automation Service to develop services to meet existing and emerging student information needs.
- Coordinates implementation of library automation, creating customized learning strategies for the integration of this technology into each school's curriculum.
- Works with library and technical staffs to ensure clear understanding of the technological needs and capabilities required to achieve district goals.
- Coordinates, directs, and sets priorities for Library Automation Librarian II, Library Services and technical staff.
- Provides guidance and direction in Union Catalog development

Job Responsibilities: The Librarian II, working in conjunction with the Library Services Coordinator, is responsible for record management and program troubleshooting for schools participating in the Regional Library Automation service. Activities include software/data installation, record maintenance, record ordering assistance to district participants, provision of telephone/on line assistance of supported programs, and basic instruction/review of automation processes. User Related Duties - Installs library automation software and the library database of MARC records.
